From Harvard Business Review: How to Establish Values on a Small Team

Check out this article from Harvard Business Review on the importance of establishing values, even on a small team. It’s more than just a paper exercise, when you spell out how values should come to life, they can help enable decision making in the organization.

“Developing your corporate values early in your company’s history can have a lasting and positive effect on your organization and its culture.”

For example, my first client was Inspire Dance Studio – one of their values is “community.”  One way it shows up? Some of their dance classes invite a wide range of ages to learn together, helping their students to build relationships and empowering their older students to be mentors for the younger students. For them, community isn’t just a word, it’s a way of being.
